Sapana Dreams of Fair Fashion

Who are they? From the get-go Fair Trade practices has been a top priority for what I consider sustainable. I think the human element of any industry is indicative of society. So when I see companies like Sapana Dreams truly valuing their artist’s talents and cultural routes, it reminds me how a company that values ethics can improve lives and preserve culture. Sapana Dreams focuses on the employment of those living in the rural parts of India and Nepal. One of their main goals is to give their artisans financial stability, and a sense of personal pride through their craftsmanship. Sapana Dreams creates beautiful, durable bag that are perfect for so many occasions!

Why are they special? Opposite of fast fashion: Since these bags are made by hand, it takes 8-10 days to complete one bag. Objectively though that seems fast, because I don’t think I’d be able to make one of these bags if someone gave me a year to do it. But these artisans are true masters of their craft. When I look closely at all the stitching that went into the bag I’m amazed at all the different colors that are tightly weaved together.

One of a kind: All of their bags are made by people, so there are no two bags that look the same. It’s so hard to find pieces that are one of a kind but each one of their pieces are one of a kind!

Affordable: I’m always an advocate for sustainable fashion that is affordable. Because so many times it’s not. But Sapana Dreams has a lot of affordable options, and also has a few things if you want to splurge!

What am I wearing? I have the Dhurrie Rug Clutch, and they aren’t joking about it being a rug. This is one of the sturdiest bags I’ve ever had. In the past, I’ve had several clutches that loose their shape when you put something in it, but not this one. It’s strong, sturdy, doesn’t feel like a stereotypical rug (phew), and so beautiful. The gold design is a bit sparkly so you can dress this up!
